{Rachel+Ryan} Oh-So-Vintage Hill Country Wedding

Rachel and Ryan's wedding day was straight out of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. The bride wore a vintage wedding dress and the groom wore a 1930's inspired suit. The bride designed the entire wedding day and special touches such as the adorable bird cake toppers, the bird table ornaments, the wildflowers in vintage vases and even the butter-cream cake! The ceremony took place at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Bastrop, Texas with a reception following at the bride's family home in Westlake. Local Austin pilsner was chosen as the signature drinks and guests were encouraged to write well-wishes to the couple on vintage cloth which the bride will be making a quilt out of. Laguna Gloria Wedding: Catherine+Beau

Catherine and Beau got married at one of our favorite venues in Austin at Laguna Gloria. The ceremony was held in the front of the Villa with the reception setup overlooking the lake. The bride worked with Clink Events to design a lovely yellow and cobalt blue color palette for the wedding. Some of our favorite touches on the wedding day were the amazing flowers, designed by Prive Floral, and the antique yellow china place settings that the elegant cake, designed by Michelle's Patisserie. The bride's parents arranged for a mariachi band that welcomed the guests to the reception immediately following the ceremony. Catherine and Beau's wedding day was especially poignant as their baby daughter was in attendance. Villa Antonia Hill Country Wedding - Nicole and Blain

Last spring we photographed Nicole and Blain's engagement session and we had such a great time that we couldn't wait until their late summer wedding! Although it was a very warm summer day, the bride and groom looked lovely on their wedding day! The bride's choose purple and cream for her colors with splashes of yellow flowers that really popped - Visual Lyrics designed all of the gorgeous flowers used throughout the day including the bouquets, ceremony and reception flowers. The bride and groom met at Texas Tech while attending grad school there and had a Tech-themed groom's cake by Erin's Custom Cakes. Our two favorite personal touches of the day was the bagpipe serenade by the bride's brother immediately after the ceremony and the brooch on the bridal bouquet that was the bride's grandmother's. Style Me Pretty Feature: Rex + Maria

Chris and I at Austin Imagery Photography (www.austinimagery.com) are so excited to hear that Rex + Maria's wedding is being featured today on Style Me Pretty. We had a wonderful time at Rex's and Maria's wedding earlier this summer at a Heritage House in Dripping Springs, TX. Rex and Maria met at Rice University and after a long courtship the two are lucky to have TWO weddings - one in Texas at Rex's family ranch in Dripping Springs, Texas and one in Columbia where Maria is from. The Texas wedding was just gorgeous - the ranch has a quaint and private chapel, a huge party area with a view of the Texas Hill Country and a row of rustic cabins for guests to stay in. Family and friends from all over the US and Columbia came in for the wedding. We absolutely loved all the personal and vintage touches to the wedding day - from vintage plates for the table setups to a vintage typewriter for guests to type personal sentiments to the bride and groom. Heritage House is an amazing venue, Word of Mouth Catering is always top-notch and the ever creative floral team at Petal Pushers provided the lovely florals and bouquets. There was also a cigar bar for the groomsmen and (our personal favorite) the couple's dogs served as ring-bearers! The whole wedding day had a lovely feeling of days-gone-by. Kiran+Ryland - Avanti Fountain Place, Dallas, Texas

The most important ingredient to make a wedding day special is the family and friends that come together to celebrate - and Kiran and Ryland's wedding day was very special. Some guests came from as far as Canada where the bride grew up to be part of the celebration! Last year, we photographed the wedding of Kiran's brother, Randy, and his beautiful wife, Jeanine, for their Texas Hill Country-themed wedding, so we were thrilled when the family asked us to photograph Kiran and Ryland's wedding.

The bride got dressed surrounded by her bridesmaids and her Mom and future-mother-in-law at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas. Kiran's primary wedding color was red and her amazing red platform stiletto's were stunning next to her red heart tattoo and henna design gracing her feet and hands. Right after Kiran had finished putting on her veil, her mother and father surprised her with a horse-drawn carriage to transport her to the ceremony!

The bride and groom had a gorgeous wedding and reception in the heart of downtown Dallas at the Avanti Fountain Place. Upon walking into the venue you are surrounded by water - tiers of water and dancing fountains as well as green, lush trees. The children in the wedding party had very special significance; the groom's daughter made a darling flower girl and the couple's nephews served as ring bearers. Kiran and Ryland were great models (and sports) as we took advantage of photographing portraits in front of the water fountains late into the evening. We truly enjoyed having the opportunity to see the Chhabra family again and to photograph Kiran and Ryland's very special day. Best Wishes - Yvonne and Chris

Audra + Chris: Destination Wedding at Laguna Gloria

Audra and Chris really know how to throw a party - Austin-style! Their wedding day was one for the memory books and we really loved the personal touches that the couple added to their day such as the Photo Tree and the dinner table theme which held vintage postcards from the couple's favorite cities around the world. In keeping with other popular Austin wedding vendors, Audra's flowers were prepared by Verbena Floral Design .

Audra was absolutely stunning! Happy to be back in her old college stomping ground, she planned her wedding from Washington state where she and Chris now live. Many people traveled to Austin from afar for this wedding and it was worth every mile.

On a gorgeous summer day at Laguna Gloria's outdoor amphitheater, Audra and Chris were married with over 100 spectators looking on. Following the ceremony, family and friends enjoyed cocktail hour and had a blast getting their photos made in Austin's new Airstream Photobooth.

Of course there was a fabulous dinner served and a beautiful cake by Austin Cake Studio - but what "Austin-themed" wedding would be complete without Amy's Ice Cream? But wait, it didn't end there... the grand finale of the evening was a visit from Elvis - a special wedding present from the bride to the groom.

Austin 71 Wedding - Sneak Peek Rebecca + Dean

Having a wedding in the Austin Hill Country appeals to so many brides that it's fast becoming a destination wedding location from brides all over the US. It's no wonder, with the rolling hills, beautiful sunsets and an excellent selection of wedding venues. Rebecca and her family are from Louisiana, and with the help of Rosa Gibson of Austin Wedding Planners by Rosa and the perfect selection of other important wedding vendors, Rebecca and Dean's wedding was an elegant hill country affair at the elegant wedding venue of Austin71.

The venue was wonderfully decorated with flowers by The Flower Studio by Coby Neal; white and pink accents lined the balcony overlooking the Texas Hill Country which made for a picturesque backdrop for the ceremony and reception. A multi-tiered cake had a hint of Louisiana fleur-de-lis delicately displayed with white-on-white which was created by Coco Paloma Desserts.

As photographers, we truly enjoy photographing at Austin71. The natural light throughout the main Villa provides a myriad of locations for natural light bridal portraiture. And speaking of lighting, Ilios Lighting supplied lighting accents for the outside dance and dining area which were absolutely stunning. We truly enjoyed photographing at this venue, and most of all, meeting another wonderful couple. Congratulations, Rebecca and Dean! We wish you all the best!

Spring Wedding at Allan House - Cortnee and Ricky Doyle

Another beautiful ceremony with close family and friends at The Allan House where Ricky Doyle and Cortnee Gunn gathered together with close friends and family on a wonderful late Spring evening. This venue is always so picturesque with the large oak trees and beautiful inviting environment and this evening was no exception. It is like being a guest in a quaint downtown neighborhood home. This venue is quite a photographer's dream with nice large rooms, antiques, stairways, balconies and even a sunset over the Austin skyline.

The evening was catered by Whole Foods and the elegant and very tasty espresso and vanilla cream cakeballs by Objects of Confection. The gorgeous pale and deep pink flowers were designed by Bouquets of Austin.

Cortnee and Ricky were really fun to work with as every suggestion was followed by an easy "ok, let's do it!" response. I imagine that since Cortnee is so pretty she has likely been in front of a camera most of her life and with Ricky's career as a sportscaster at YNN Austin he was also quite a natural in front of the camera.

We truly enjoyed photographing them because they are obviously deeply and madly in LOVE...and it shows! Congratulations Ricky and Cortnee!

W Austin Hotel Wedding - Austin Meets LA

The W Austin Hotel is the perfect setting for a modern wedding and Ashley and Neil were the third couple to have their wedding at one of the hottest new hotels downtown - the W Austin. The security on the hotel premises is pretty tight so we met with W staff a day before the wedding to scout the locations that we would be given access to photograph in. The modern architecture proved an interesting juxtaposition of sharp angles, colorful art and a ton of glass windows!

The ceremony took place on the terrace outside the second floor which is located between the iconic "W" sign and the entrance to the Austin City Limits Moody Theater. Ashley chose succulents for her ceremony and reception florals which was a perfect complement to the contemporary venue. The flower design was created by the amazing floral studio - Pollen Floral Arts. The ceremony processional music was performed by a young singer/songwriter named Grace London who played a cover of "Windows Are Rolled Down" by Ben Harper. If you haven't yet heard of Grace London, you soon will - she is destined to be the next breakthrough folk/contemporary artist to come out of Austin within the next few years. Ashley & Neil's dog, Lucy, was a special wedding attendant and walked with them down the aisle after they were pronounced husband + wife.

Small Is Beautiful at Chapel Dulcinea

Weddings, ceremonies and receptions come in all shapes and sizes and there are options out there for everyone. Chapel Dulcinea is a quaint ceremony site with views, privacy and all the ingredients you need for an intimate gathering of close family and friends. Kristen and Tony had a small gathering that they will all remember and treasure forever. When the ceremony ended, the sun was setting on the Texas hillside which was not only a romantic end to the day, but made for some gorgeous portrait lighting for our bride and groom.

A Royal Wedding at Castle Avalon in New Braunfels, Texas

Have you ever considered having your wedding in a castle? There is such a place in New Braunfels, Texas where you can be the Princess and marry your Prince Charming. Castle Avalon is nestled in the Texas Hill country and that is where Laura and Jeff tied the knot this past April. It was everything you would expect from a Texas castle, absolutely beautiful! From the time you walk in, you can tell right away the quality craftsmanship that was put into this castle. The outside courtyard was the location for the ceremony and the large, ornate ballroom was right out of a fairy tale with a delicately painted ceiling complete with cherubs and angels. As a nod to Laura's Scottish heritage, the bride and groom spent a month touring the great castles of Scotland and England. What a fitting place for Laura and Jeff to have their wedding and may they live "Happily Ever After"! Best Wishes - Chris and Yvonne

House on the Hill, Austin Texas- Megan and Adam

March 2011- This quaint wedding was set at House on the Hill where Megan and Adam spent the weekend with their family. Megan and Adam are third generation teachers and it was so nice to meet all of their family on the wedding day. Megan decorated with a vintage theme including her gorgeous vintage-style dress.

There were so many thoughtful and beautiful details - the hand-tied bouquets, the Tito's vodka wedding favors, the vases which she collected at vintage stores to place on the reception tables. As this wedding was a destination style wedding, there were many families with children in attendance; we thought it was so sweet how Megan and Adam included a old-school bean bag toss for the kiddo's to enjoy; although, we think the adults had just as good a time! We had a blast shooting Adam and Megan before the ceremony as they opted for a "First Look" session which gave us an opportunity to get creative- which we love! They did too. Vintage Villas, Lake Travis- A Beautiful Lake Travis Sunset Wedding

March 2011- Linda and Marc had a beautiful evening on the hillside at Vintage Villas overlooking a a brilliant red sunset on Lake Travis. This March wedding had the flowers blooming, the green grass, cool breezes and clear skies. Linda decorated the dining room with a soft and serene color palette of lavender, pinks and soft green flowers which lent an air of romance to the atmosphere. Her tiered lavender cake was set up in the center in the front window making a wonderful backdrop to the events of the evening's activities. This is a great example of how a small intimate wedding can be elegant and absolutely stunning!

Terranea Resort Wedding, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA Destination Wedding

It's been a very busy spring for Austin Imagery Photography and we are behind on blog posts (yikes!) but we wanted to post Sneak Peeks of Danielle + Brandon's gorgeous April wedding in the LA area at Terranea Resort.

Danielle works in marketing at Disney and Brandon works for Universal Studios; this Hollywood couple chose Terranea Resort as their wedding ceremony and reception site because of it's gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.

Although the days before and after the wedding day were foggy on the coast, the day of the wedding itself was absolutely perfect - sunny skies with a light breeze. Monique Atwell of A Signature Wedding in LA created an elegant silver and light peach color palette for the event. The lighting, flowers, cake - everything, tied back to this gorgeous color theme which worked beautifully against the blue backdrop of the ocean.

The day after the wedding, Danielle and Brandon jetted off to The Maldives for an exotic and romantic honeymoon.

Austin Imagery Photography Launches Unique Airstream Photo Booth

SoCo foto, a new division of Austin Imagery Photography, is excited to introduce a new photo booth concept for Texas weddings, events and parties.

The Airstream Photo Booth is a restored vintage 1967 Airstream Globetrotter trailer with the interior retrofitted to include a state-of-the-art photo booth setup complete with a professional camera, studio lighting system, touch screen display and a dye-sublimation (dye-sub) printer for fast and professional photo prints.

"Austinites have a love of all things "Airstream" and with our SoCo foto brand we wanted to bring that airstream goodness to the photo booth concept, says Chris Johnson, co-owner of SoCo foto and Austin Imagery Photography.

In addition to the photo booth setup inside the Airstream, the exterior of the Airstream has also been restored to it's original beauty with fun graphics added to the outside so the Airstream can double as a photo prop during wedding receptions and other events.

{Judy+Stephen} Four Seasons Austin-Winter Wedding

In late December, Austin Imagery Photography (www.austinimagery.com) had the pleasure of photographing JudyThe beautiful bride and her dashing husband had a very blessed wedding party - Judy's children and Stephen's children were their attendants and looked on as Judy and Stephen were wed in the gardens at The Four Seasons overlooking Lake Austin. A truly magical day as these two families became one! We are sharing some of our favorite photos from their wedding day! {Tracy+Sam} Mercury Hall Wedding

In Spring of 2010 we had such a great time shooting Tracy and Sam's engagement photos in downtown Austin and we had an equally wonderful time at their December 2010 wedding. The bride and groom had a "First Looks" session right before their ceremony at Peace Lutheran Church. For the ceremony, the couples wrote their own vows which they read to each other. Sam, a keyboard player in a band in Austin, wrote a love song for Tracy which he sang during the ceremony. There was not a dry eye in the church after Sam finished singing!

After the beautiful ceremony, the bride and groom had their reception at Mercury Hall. Tracy and Sam, along with their awesome wedding planner, Keri Wooton of Leave the Details to Me, had decorated the reception hall with some amazing touches including antique glass bottles holding wildflowers and moss-covered branches as centerpieces, designed by Flower Child. The bride's and groom's cakes were from Kerbey Lane Cafe and Bakery. The groom's cake was made in the design of Sam's Fender-Rhodes keyboard!

The bride was serenaded by her Delta Gamma sorority sisters before their sparkler "Going Away."

Hyatt Lost Pines Wedding-{Brianne+Stephen}

On the most perfect day of December (low 70's, sunny, slight breeze in the air) Brianne and Stephen were married at the scenic hill country venue of Hyatt Lost Pines in Bastrop, Texas. Both the wedding and reception were held outdoors which was perfect on such a temperate day. Brianne and Stephen met at Texas A&M through their church ministry group and have dated for many years. Stephen likes to play golf so after the wedding we went up to the tee with the best view of the Texas Hill Country to do a bride and groom portrait session. We were lucky to run into some very nice golfers who gave Stephen some Callaway golf balls as a "wedding present" and let him borrow a club to make a celebratory drive down the fairway. They had a gorgeous wedding day with many friends and families before leaving the next day for a scuba-diving trip to Belize. Wedding Featured in Austin Wedding Day Magazine - {Victoria+Michael} Wedding at Villa St. Claire

Victoria (Tori) and Michael had a gorgeous wedding in mid-December at Villa St. Claire in North Austin. Tori is a bridal gown consultant at a local bridal boutique in Austin and knows a thing or two about weddings! Her handsome groom is a Marine who just returned from his second tour of duty overseas.

Tori's very talented wedding planner, Michelle Bromley of Allison's Events, designed a Christmas-themed wedding to highlight Tori's favorite color - red; Tori wore lovely cherry-red shoes and her wedding favors were Christmas tree ornaments - perfect for the season! Her ceremony flowers were designed by Uniquely Yours Flowers and the reception flowers (including elegant sprays of orchids) were designed by Flower Child. Topping off the elegance (or the icing on the cake - sorry I couldn't resist) was the bride's cake which was designed by Simon-Lee Bakery. We are including some of our favorite images of the wedding day including our favorite (last photo - scroll all the way down to see) which was a magical moment captured right before the bride and groom departed. With Tori's short, white "going away" dress and her new husband in his marine uniform it was reminiscent of Alfred Eisenstaedt's famous "V-J Day Kiss" photo that appeared in LIFE magazine at the end of WWII. To sweeten the romance of the day we can't forget to tell you that Tori and Michael are high school sweethearts and have dated for eight years - love at first sight, they said!

Wedding - Vista at Seward Hill { Jade + Jeff }

Jeff and Jade met while living in Chicago and moved to Austin a few years ago. Austin Imagery Photography (www.austinimagery.com) had a wonderful time photographing their wedding in early November at the beautiful Vista on Seward Hill in West Austin. Jade was a former model in Chicago and really knows how to pose for the camera! She recently received her degree from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute and is now a chef at Lake Austin Spa & Resort. Jeff is an IT professional and is a huge Green Bay Packers fan; so much so that the Packers was a theme for his groom's cake. Jade's pastry chef professor designed the bride's cake which was gorgeous and yummy! Jade's lovely flowers were by the super-talented Flower Studio by Coby Neal and the fantastic food was catered by Sterling Affairs Catering. But as I love shoes, I can't forget to mention the shoes - dainty, black silk Valentino heels - amazing! What we won't soon forget is the dancing - everyone, including the bride and groom, danced and danced and danced! They tore up the dance floor and didn't stop until 5 minutes before their departure. A great night for a great couple - Congratulations, Jade + Jeff!

October 10, 2010, or 10.10.10 - what a wonderful day for a wedding! Austin Imagery (www.austinimagery.com) photographed Allie & Matt's engagement last Spring and we were thrilled to photograph their wedding overlooking Lake Travis at the Lakeway Resort & Spa. What a gorgeous wedding - no detail was overlooked! Allie's hand-appliqued silk dress was an Ulla Maija Couture gown which she wore with peacock blue Bagdley Miscka shoes. Her elegant ceremony and reception flowers were by Westbank Flower Market. During the ceremony, the rings were carried down the aisle in a Paloma's Nest ring bowl; we love that Paloma's Nest is an Austin-based company! Allie & Matt's wedding colors were cream, purple with touches of green. Ilois Lighting designed the most amazing purple uplighting for the reception which was held in the Grand Ballroom and the outdoor balcony overlooking Lake Travis. The bride's mother had two surprises planned for the bride & groom - a song performed by the bride's 5th grade students (she is a teacher) and a fireworks display right after the cake cutting (cake designed by Michelle's Patisserie); it was a magical day! {Brooke & Alex Sneek Peak} Wedding at The Fed in Austin, Texas

Brooke and Alex met at the UT Law School and graduated shortly before their wedding. The officiant who performed the ceremony is a dear family friend who is also a professor at the UT Law School. The wedding and reception was at the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs in Austin and the ceremony itself was held in the scenic brick courtyard.

Since many of Brooke's family and friends are from Southern California (Brooke attended undergrad at Scripps College) the bride and groom decided on a "Texas themed" wedding complete with the bridesmaids wearing cowboy boots. The wedding was catered by the fabulous Royal Fig Catering of Austin, Texas and the Austin-based band "Soul Love" played at the reception. (Austin Imagery Photography (www.austinimagery.com) is photographing the wedding of Soul Love's keyboard player in December, so we had a lot of fun taking the band photos, as well, since we know Sam and he is such a great guy!)

Walden Plantation Wedding Sneak Peek: Randy + Jenine

Our wedding photography studio, Austin Imagery, had a great time shooting the late summer wedding of Randy and Jenine at Walden Plantation. Randy and Jenine fell in love with Walden Plantation and knew it would be the perfect venue for their wedding. Randy's family hails from Canada (cute Canadian flag grooms cake, BTW) so they wanted to have a true Texas Hill Country wedding scenery and a location where friends from all over could stay with them over the wedding weekend. The scenery was such a treat for us to use as a backdrop and we had a great time shooting under the large oak trees and having photos with "real live" Texas longhorns in them! Beka & Taylor - Wedding at Driskill Hotel

Beka & Taylor met at Baylor (Go Bears!) which is where I went to college and it was a blast to shoot the wedding of another Baylor grad. Beka graduated right before her wedding, so she was busy planning her wedding and finishing up school, but we were able to fit a bridal session in to her schedule and a few months later, photograph her ceremony and reception at the always-lovely Driskill Hotel in downtown, Austin. Beka's colors were yellow with touches of dark peach and green. The ceremony was held in the main ballroom with the reception on the entire second level of the hotel. The groom is a cigar aficionado and had a "Cigar Bar" set up for guests. Beka and Taylor left for their honeymoon in a 1940's vintage car. We are sharing a few photos from their wedding day. Congratulations, Beka and Taylor... and "Go Bears!"

Ronnie + Josh: New York City Urban Engagement Session

In August, we had a blast shooting an urban engagement session for Ronnie and Josh. It doesn't get any more "urban hip" than New York City and we had a great time with the couple. They have lived in NYC for a long time and took us to shoot at some really awesome places - their favorite outdoor cafe, Roni's grammer school playground, their first apartment together as a couple, the new waterfront construction at Battery Park, and our favorite location of the day - the famous (and, oh, so appropriate) "LOVE" sculpture in downtown Manhattan.

Magen & Philip - Wedding at Tenroc Ranch, Salado, Texas

We shot Magen's bridals in the Spring and were so excited to photograph her wedding to Philip at the unique ranch in Salado, Texas called Tenroc Ranch. What a fantastic Texas setting for a wedding - longhorns, cactus, an old windmill and a scenic ceremony location with a natural creek running through it. The reception was held indoors in the Blue Heron Ballroom. Magen and Philip's wedding day was amazing - we are including an inspiration board below from some of our favorite images from their wedding day. One of our favorite moments of the day was when Magen's nieces (also her flower girls) helped her put on her wedding shoes!

The ceremony and reception was held under the big Texas sky at Tricia's family ranch, the Circle S Ranch in New Braunfels, TX. After a week of very heavy rains, the weather was perfect for an outdoor wedding. We had the opportunity to whisk the bride and groom away to a vista overlooking the Texas Hill Country for portraits. Then onto dinner and dancing - including the Aggie Fight Song!

Texas Hill Country Wedding - Becker Vineyards

On a gorgeous summer evening in late May, we shot the wedding of Marcela and Joshua at Becker Vineyards. The sun was setting as Joshua and Marcela exchanged vows under a giant oak tree- the lighting was beautiful - a soft orange glow surrounded the couple as they said their vows in front of family and friends from all over the world including as far away as San Salvador and Switzerland. Before the wedding, we shot bridal and bridesmaid portraits in the lavendar fields at the vineyard. Marcela's primary wedding color was a french lavendar that was seen in the bridesmaids dresses as well as the french lavender flowers used as decorations throughout the reception and the groom's boutonniere. Marcela was a model in San Salvador and one of her recent magazine covers was for a wedding magazine. Right after Marcela put on her gown, we snapped a few photos of the bride looking through the magazine that her Mom had brought into the Bride's Room as a surprise for the bridesmaids to see! After the ceremony, we photographed the bride and groom in the scenic vineyards - some of our favorite photos of the day. The reception was held in The Lavendar Haus and veranda with excellent food and the award-winning Becker wines - including our favorite - the Iconoclast Cabernet Sauvignon!

Randi + Neal at Laguna Gloria

We photographed Randi's bridal portraits this Spring and were excited to photograph her wedding to Neal recently at Laguna Gloria, one of our favorite Austin venues. Randi and Neal were surrounded by friends and family as they said their vows in the Ampitheater area of Laguna Gloria. The weather was gorgeous (okay, maybe a little hot, but Randi and Neal were great sports about it!) As the sun set towards the end of their ceremony, the weather cooled off a great deal which allowed everyone to really enjoy the gorgeous hot-pink themed reception on the grounds of Laguna Gloria, toward the back of the Villa and overlooking Lake Austin. The wedding day flowers and event design were by Fleurish Austin in an ivory and hot pink color palette. As Randi and Neal wanted to go directly from the ceremony to the reception, we did a "First Looks" bride and groom photo session about 30 minutes before the ceremony and are including some photos of that portion of the day. The food was fantastic and was catered by Primizie of Austin. One of the really touching moments of the day was when Neal serenaded Randi with an acoustic guitar version of their favorite Guns & Roses song! They left for their honeymoon in a vintage 1940's white Bentley - tres chic!

Austin, Texas is such a great place to have pets - we have pet friendly restaurants, lots of great off-leash dog parks, hiking trails where dogs are allowed and lots of amazing pet rescue groups (too many to mention individually - which is fantastic - and of, course, our great lakes! Vintage Wedding at Texas Women's Federation Club

This spring we photographed Kim & Mike's wedding at Texas Women's Federation Club in Austin, Texas. Kim and Mike met during swing dance lessons and we were so excited that they incorporated their love of swing dancing into their wedding day, first during their cocktail hour with instructors giving swing dance lessons to guests and during their First Dance when they cut a rug and wowed everyone with their choreographed dance to the musical stylings of Austin's "big band" The Sentimental Journey Orchestra.

Kim and Mike, along with 36th Street Events, planned an elegant, vintage-themed wedding; there were so many beautiful details of note including: peacock themed wedding invitations and place cards, a peacock blue/peacock-themed wedding cake, sage colored table linens, gorgeous flowers by Posey Design, a vintage photo booth run by our studio and a vintage 1930's car to take the bride & groom from the church to the reception.

One of our favorite venues in Austin is Laguna Gloria, a stunning Italianate villa located on the banks of Lake Austin. Not only is this venue an amazing location for a wedding ceremony but it is also one of the best locations in Austin to have your bridal session. The light is soft and romantic at this location - there are so many different areas of the property to shoot in (inside the villa, by the lake, on a granite path with a rustic wooden bench, by statues, etc. The bride, whose images are below, is getting married later this month and Austin Imagery Photography (http://www.austinimagery.com/) will be shooting her wedding at Laguna Gloria. Bicycle Built for Two

When our studio, Austin Imagery Photography (http://www.austinimagery.com/), is preparing our clients for engagement shoots, we always ask them to think about their interests and hobbies that they would like represented in their engagement shoot theme. One of our bride and grooms wanted a "bicycle" theme for their engagement session and brought a tandem bicycle. It was a lot of fun using the tandem bicycle as a prop. We had a blast with this session! We have had people bring fishing poles, sporting equipment, musical equipment and the like to their engagement sessions to really personalize the shoot. This allows the couples' interests and personalities to really shine through in their images.

Magic Disco Ball

Kids do some of the most adorable, unexpected things! We shot a wedding recently at Villa St. Claire in North Austin, Texas and after the first dance finished the disco lights were set up to get everyone else out on the dance floor. Within a few minutes, one child was gazing at the disco ball, then two, then four, then five... They were mesmerized!

Gorgeous Indian Wedding at La Villa Vista, Austin, Texas

Manasi & Alec were married on a very auspicious day, October 17th, which is Diwali! Manasi, an engineer, and Alec, an oceanographer, met while living in Norway as they both went to live there for work assignments. They still live in Norway, but as Manasi's family lives in Houston, they decided that Austin would be a lovely place for a destination wedding. Manasi found our wedding photography studio through our website and although we didn't meet in person until the day before the wedding, after many phone calls and emails, we were thrilled when we got to meet them in person! They and their families are so lovely and we had an amazing experience documenting their wedding day.

The wedding day itself was a beautiful mix of Indian and Western traditions at La Villa Vista, a stunning B&B overlooking Lake Travis. As Alec grew up in the UK and has also lived in Bermuda and France, friends and family came from all over the world to attend the wedding. Manasi's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Parikh, own an Indian wedding decorating business in Houston, and set up gorgeous decorations for the ceremony and reception.

The ceremony started with the Madhuperk, which is the welcoming the groom to the bride's parents home. Manasi's parents, Leena and Jayendra, greeted the groom and his parents, Bob & Sue, who travelled from the UK to attend the wedding. While the groom and his family were being greeted by bride's family, the bride's sister and brother-in-law, Anjani and Tejash, "stole" Alec's wedding shoes which is a fun-hearted tradition.

The formal ceremony was led by PunditJi and was absolutely beautiful. Many family members participated in the formal ceremony including a reading by Toral, Manasi's younger sister and a reading by Sue & Bob, the groom's parents. Manasi's eldest sister, Anjani, had the honor of tying the wedding knot as a symbol of Manasi's and Alec's newly married status. The Kannyadaanam, or Giving Away the Bride, was very touching and we have included pictures of this on our website that show Leena, the bride's mother, pouring holy water on Manasi's father's palms, which then flows to Alec's and Manasi’s palms. The Kannyadaanam symbolizes the continuity of life and passing their heritage to the next generation.

After the beautiful ceremony, we took family formals and bride and groom photos while other guests had cocktails overlooking Lake Travis at sunset! The reception food was catered by Austin's famous Taj Palace and was great including the best naan bread we've ever tasted!

Manasi's brother-in-law, Tejash, served as an excellent toastmaster and during dinner, the wedding couple was toasted by friends and family, including Alec's Groomsmen, Chris Ellis and Andrew Webb.

After dinner, "DJ Devan" from Houston (Devan Shah), spinned the turntable for a great mix of Indian and Western dance tunes.

The cake cutting was fun and we were excited to hear that the cake topper was made by the bride! It is adorable and the sari on the cake topper "bride" exactly matched the bride's reception sari while the cake topper "groom" sported a surf board as the groom is a wind-surfer and has wind-surfed all over the world (not sure if he made it to Lake Travis on this trip?)

The next day, the wedding couple headed off to Hawaii for their honeymoon!
